Main Street Commercial District

The commercial spine of the Township. Designated locally by Ord. 92-39 (July 21, 1992, HL92-01) with a second commercial designation Ord. 92-67 (Oct 20, 1992, HL92-03) — the city's first area designations. Also listed on the National Register as the Grapevine Commercial Historic District.

Relevance to you: College Street's criteria contain special provisions for "Main Street-frontage" and commercial-adjacent properties, and the Commission's commercial caseload (storefronts, signs, awnings) dominates many agendas — useful precedent for materials and process even for residential owners. The Commission's own Design Guidelines Manual chapter 2.1 covers it.
