Work: At the historic D.E. Box House: construct a 665 sq ft covered play pavilion and 525 sq ft open trellis, a new fence with sliding driveway gate, and remove portions of the existing asphalt driveway paving for landscaping. Type: garage_outbuilding, fence, hardscape Staff rec: approval with conditions (including a variance for an additional accessory structure) Discussion: Because the residence already exceeds the 3,400 sq ft maximum, staff treated the pavilion 'no different than a detached garage/storage building' and secured a variance (500 + 200 = 700 sq ft allowance covering the 665 sq ft pavilion), stressing 'no other structures or expansions shall be permitted in the future.' Architect Marek said the design 'let the existing house stand on its own,' and Mr. Nguyen explained his five children 'need more outdoor time.'
