Work: At the 1951 Ed and Dr. Edith Pewitt House (D. E. Box Addition HD): construct a 927 sq ft rear addition, replace all aluminum windows with new PlyGem one-over-one double-pane aluminum windows, remove non-contributing storage sheds, build a 500 sq ft detached two-car garage, and add a new driveway. Type: addition, windows, garage_outbuilding, demolition, hardscape Staff rec: Approve with conditions (found compliant with Secretary of the Interior Standards except Item 9; addition to be set back 18 inches to differentiate new from old) Discussion: Ms. Pham said she "was aware of the 18 inches setback... and was good with this." Next-door neighbor Scott Thiel raised driveway drainage and tree concerns; Pham answered "there would be no change in the grade," and Wilbanks asked her to try to save the big tree (Voelker suggested an arborist). Outcome: approved with conditions (4-0) — moved Paula Wilbanks, second Chuck Voelker Conditions: New addition set back 18 inches where it joins the existing structure (east elevation) to demarcate old from new; Building permit obtained; Exterior materials, finishes, paint colors, doors/hardware, windows and light fixtures approved on separate CA(s)
