Work: Historic Landmark Subdistrict overlay for the site of the fire-destroyed 1917 Wm. Cameron & Company lumber office (demolished after the April 2012 fire on condition of landmarking) Type: designation Staff rec: Approve the Historic Overlay to record the property's history and give HPC input in future development; proposed design guidelines included Discussion: Fulfilled the condition set at the May meeting; Gilliam noted the commission had discussed this previously and it passed without debate. Outcome: approved (5-0) — moved Margaret Telford, second Ashley Anderson

Work: Rebuild the fire-destroyed c. 1917 Cameron Lumber Company building (footprint enlarged ~2,600 sq ft for a ~170-seat restaurant), recreating the site's traditional appearance Type: new_construction Staff rec: Approve with conditions: HL12-05 approved; brick veneer wrapped around the southwest corner the length of the gable; original brick-scored wood siding reinstalled as a 12' x 16' west-wall inset panel with interpretive marker; windows, doors, materials, finishes and paint via separate Commission-approved CA Discussion: Klempin flagged the proposed exposed concrete-block rear wall visible from the street and recommended wrapping the brick veneer around the corner; Ware lamented 'the Township had lost a piece of very historic Texas'; Telford found the revised design 'more period-appropriate now.' Outcome: approved with conditions (5-0) — moved Margaret Telford, second Ashley Anderson Conditions: Brick veneer to wrap the southwest corner; Materials and paint colors to come back to the Commission for approval; Original brick-scored wood siding reinstalled in 12' x 16' inset panel with interpretive marker (per staff recommendation)

Work: Request to table the demolition/mixed-use case again — drawings lengthening the facades were not ready; owner asked for a Special Called Meeting Type: demolition, new_construction Staff rec: Klempin noted it was 'not in the tradition of the Commission to move meetings around'; Wilbanks left it to the commission's vote Discussion: Ware said 'when we can give service, we should'; the commission agreed to a September 5 Special Called Meeting while keeping the regular September 26 date. Outcome: tabled (5-0) — moved Margaret Telford, second Ashley Anderson Conditions: Tabled to a September 5, 2012 Special Called Meeting; regular fourth-Wednesday schedule maintained for September 26
