Work: Demolish existing non-contributing structure on West College Street and construct four-story residential condominium building: ground-floor 14-car parking garage, six 2,500 sq ft units, roof deck Type: demolition, new_construction Staff rec: approve with conditions (final drawings/materials on separate CA; verify view corridor not blocked) Discussion: Gilliam said he was "struggling with this height; this was huge and would take one's breath away," and Telford called the building "hovering, overpowering the other buildings and the Victorian homes." A protest letter from Joe Lipscomb of 290 West College Street was read; Ware proposed marking the proposed mass with helium balloons before deciding.
