CA14-74 — 206 South Church Street

Work: New front porch addition with gable roof to the Russell Halstead House at Church and Wall Streets: wood exterior columns, siding and trim to match the existing house, which is being renovated for use as a vacation rental. Type: porch Staff rec: Approval with conditions: porch designed per the Design Guidelines for Historic Residential Structures with materials to match the existing house. Discussion: Mrs. Tonya Bradley said the gable and porch would match the exterior, that they had applied for a permit to remove the overlay siding and wanted to raise the too-low garage roof, and that the house would become a vacation rental, 'noting there were only 12 similar rentals in the city.' Derr asked what the porch itself would be built of; she answered concrete. Outcome: approved with conditions (8-0) — moved Margaret Telford, second Ashley Anderson Conditions: Materials to match the existing house, per the Design Guidelines for Historic Residential Structures
