Public hearing items
CA20-84 — 513 East Texas Street
Work: Construct a 7x10 ft, 9-ft-high open-air pergola with patio in the front yard and an 11x15.5 ft, 12-ft-high pergola over the front driveway of the landmarked Trice-Lucas House (College Heights Addition). Type: hardscape, other Staff rec: Approve only the smaller front-yard pergola, with conditions (freestanding, no solid roof ever, revisions staff-approved, permit); driveway pergola's 12-ft height 'does not fit in with the streetscape' Discussion: Tenney said the goal was 'to enhance the front of the house,' not shade, and offered flexibility. Telford worried about 'the precedent it would set in the Township'; Wilbanks found the massing 'out of character for a historic house,' suggesting landscaping instead. Shope asked Klempin to work with the applicants on a better concept. Outcome: continued (8-0) — moved Margaret Telford, second Paula Wilbanks Conditions: Return with a revised design at the November 18, 2020 meeting
