CA22-06 — 840 East Texas Street

Work: Install solar panels on the south-facing rear roof of the historic 1953 Mayor H.M. Cosnahan House, D.E. Box Addition Historic District. Type: mechanical, roof Staff rec: Approve with conditions Discussion: Klempin explained the "zig-zag shapes" prohibition and Hewett "agreed to move some panels to eliminate the zig-zag shown in the submitted drawing." Asked by Voelker whether solar requirements would be codified, Klempin said they will be added to the design guidelines, "but they will probably have a workshop first." Outcome: approved with conditions (6-0) — moved Margaret Telford, second Ashley Anderson Conditions: Panels placed in rectangular configuration with no zig-zag shapes; Panels not visible from the street view; Panel color to closely match roof shingle color; All associated conduits and components painted to match roof, siding and wall color; Final placement plan from the installer staff-approved on a separate Certificate of Appropriateness; Permit obtained from the Building Department

CA22-21 — 326 East Texas Street

Work: Construct a new 366 sq ft one-story master bedroom and bath addition on the east side of the existing 2,160 sq ft landmarked house; plans by architect Gary D. Land. Type: addition Staff rec: Approve with conditions Discussion: Staff verified with the Building Department, Planning and Zoning and the City Attorney that at under 3,400 sq ft the house "would not be required to be reviewed by the Board of Zoning Adjustment." Goury made a brief presentation. Outcome: approved with conditions (6-0) — moved Margaret Telford, second Eric Gilliland Conditions: All exterior materials, windows, doors and door hardware, and light fixtures approved under a separate Certificate of Appropriateness; Building permit obtained from the Building Department
