Work: Former Grapevine Church of Christ / La Buena Vida Winery site (landmarked, College Street Residential Historic District): demolish the 2,415 sq ft former Sunday School building, winery outdoor pavilion and brick walls; remove asphalt parking lots; subdivide into four single-family lots facing East College Street and one commercial lot facing East Hudgins Street. Type: demolition, other Staff rec: Approve with conditions Discussion: Wright said the goal is "to clean up an eye sore on College Street" and bring back designs of prominent historic Grapevine homes. Telford said "it breaks her heart" to see the property in disrepair; Paul McCallum recounted the 1988 sanctuary fire and said "the highest and best use of the property at this time is for residential homes." Klempin told Meyer that reviving the winery after 10 years vacant "is not a viable option" and confirmed to Anderson the site is already in the College Street Historic District. Outcome: approved with conditions (7-0) — moved Margaret Telford, second Theresa Meyer Conditions: Zoning change for four single-family residential lots approved by P&Z and City Council; Replat of the property approved by P&Z and City Council; All plans, exterior materials, windows, doors and hardware, light fixtures and fences approved under separate Certificate of Appropriateness; Building permit to be obtained from the Building Services Department
